What about the meals?
Nutrition plays an important part in your recovery. Our Clinical Dietitian monitors your nutritional needs and custom designs your meals accordingly, while our renowned Chef ensures your absolute satisfaction.
During patient meal times, and at any other time of the day, your guests may order meals from the coffee shop. No food will be allowed into the hospital from the outside.

Is there a coffee shop?
The Coffee Shop, located in the Hospital garden, offers you and your guests a variety of sandwiches, salads and hot meals. For room service, please dial ext. 322. Coffee shop hours are 7am - 9pm daily, including weekends and holidays.

Are there newspaper services?
Please inform your nurse the night before if you wish to have a newspaper delivered to your room the next morning.

What are the check-out procedures?
On check-out day, one of our billing clerks will call to inform you that your discharge form is ready. Whether you are self paying or insured, please have a family member proceed to the Cashier to close out your bill and pick up your discharge form. Before you leave, you must hand in the discharge form to your nurse for final clearance. Check-out time is 12 noon at the latest.

What is the check-out list?
. Have you checked the wardrobe, bedside table, and bathroom for personal items left behind?

Your child's birth certificate is a legal document which cannot be duplicated or altered. One copy, in Arabic, will be provided to you before you leave the hospital.

What anout the medical records?
Medical records are the property of the Hospital and, therefore, cannot be taken off the premises. You may, however, request a copy of your records by completing the necessary form. Your records should be available to you within a few days.

Most surgeons
recommend that you do
not eat anything for 8
hours before surgery.

If you eat or drink even
small amounts your
surgeon may cancel
your surgery.

This is for your own
safety. If you have food
in your stomach and you
vomit, some of that food
may enter your lungs.

It is a good idea to eat
a nourishing diet for a
week or two before
surgery.

Consider increasing your vitamin C intake.

Do not go on a strict diet
before your operation.

Be sure to check with
your surgeon about
the kind of anesthesia
you are to receive and
the preparations he
wishes you to make.

If you are to have a
local anesthetic,
you may be allowed
clear liquids.

If you are having an
intravenous local or
a general anesthetic,
you should not eat
or drink six to eight
hours before coming
to the hospital.
