HOPE Assisted Reproduction Unit:

Directed by Anwar Soubra MD, the Center for Assisted Reproduction at Trad Hospital (HOPE) offers the highest standards in the fields of infertility and assisted reproductive technology. The center uses a computerized database to contain detailed patient information so all couples can be accurately informed about total number of eggs retrieved, rate of fertilization, fate of unfertilized eggs, number of embryos transferred, etc.
A yearly assessment of the Unit's performance is made available to physicians.
Couples are also offered counseling for different kinds of assisted reproduction techniques.

The Unit's Mission

HOPE is aware that medical intervention used to alleviate infertility intrudes upon the most private and sensitive parts of our existence and relationships. This is why the unit will always be guided by the respect for human life at all stages of development, by the right of infertile people to proper treatment, and by the welfare of children born as a result of the hospital's intervention. HOPE will carry these duties to the highest moral, ethical and medical standards and treat all personal and medical information with the utmost confidentiality.

Services Provided

The unit offers a comprehensive service in the fields of reproductive medicine, endocrinology, andrology, and premature menopause. The different practices and techniques offered in our unit are:

IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) offered to patients with unexplained infertility or anovulations.
IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) successful treatment of couples with tubal damage, endometriosis, anovulation, low sperm parameters and unexplained infertility.
ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) The injection of a single sperm into the cytoplasm of each egg, suitable for couples who have severely impaired sperm quality or have had an unexplained failure of fertilization with IVF.
GIFT (Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer) Placement of oocytes and sperm within the tubal lumen at laparoscopy.
PESA (Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration)
TESE (Testicular Sperm Extraction)
Testicular Biopsy These three techniques are used to obtain sperm from ICIS in cases of azoospermia with testicular sperm production present.
Freezing: Sperm and embryos can be frozen on site. Sperm freezing is ideal for men undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, PESA, TESE or testicular biopsy. Embryo freezing will also be offered to all couples with suitable embryos allowing replacement in future unstimulated cycles.

Doctors remove eggs
from the woman and
sperm from the man.

Then eggs and sperm a
re placed together where
hopefully, some will
unite.

The fertilized eggs
are placed in a
special culture.

Once the eggs begin
to divide several are
placed back into the
woman’s uterus.
Ideally, at least one
of those fertilized
eggs develops into
a successful
pregnancy.
