Expansion
and Renovation (1990-1996):
With the end of hostilities and the projected return from the USA
of Dr. Sami Trad's two sons, Drs. Fouad and Karim, an ambitious
expansion and renovation of the hospital facility was undertaken.
It involved the complete rehabilitation and modernization of the
original hospital structure at an estimated cost of 6 million USD,
as well as the acquisition of new medical equipment at a total estimated
cost of 6 million USD. The new outpatient building, which houses
24 specialty clinics as well as a state-of-the-art Diagnostic Center,
was completed in 1995. During the following two years, the Hospital's
operations continued in a temporary set-up and at a reduced level
of activity. The final touches were completed in December of 1996,
and the renovated Hospital and its brand new Medical Center became
fully operational in early 1997.
Along with the structural rehabilitation and new capital
investments, a major reorganization effort was initiated at the
administrative level as well as the medical staffing level. The
goal at the administrative level was to establish an aggressive,
profit-oriented and modern management team. For this purpose, Consulting
and Development Services (CDS), a management consultancy firm based
in Beirut, was appointed to develop a strategic plan for the Hospital,
and assisted the Board in the implementation of the final reorganization
phases. As for the medical team, a core group of exceptionally well-qualified
Specialists, mostly U.S. and French-trained, were appointed to the
staff thereby boosting the scope as well as the quality of clinical
activities at Trad Hospital.
A New
Beginning (1997-2002):
Today, TRAD HOSPITAL is widely recognized in setting high standards
of medical care and patient comfort. This is reflected in a steadily
increasing level of activity since 1997.
For the year 2003, the projected indicators of activity
are as follows :
6,800 inpatient admissions
30,000 outpatient visits (i.e. patients performing laboratory
or x-ray examinations)
1,850 deliveries making Trad Hospital the busiest maternity
in the country
3,300 surgical procedure and flexible endoscopies.

This method, which was tested and validated in Germany,
has been applied to over 7,000 births to date, and continues to
be exclusively practiced by Dr. Trad and his associates at the hospital.
